Good job, Jenita. YES - attention spans are VERY short - explanations/demonstrations that last 30 seconds or less are best. You have to figure out what they NEED TO KNOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL at the activity, then give them just that - and by demonstrati…

Think of pacing your activities, Leisa. How will you start - by showing a picture of snow, a feltboard that the kids can put felt snowflakes on, or the book cover (if the illustration is good)? If you then start with a gross motor music and movement…

Hi Leisa, Good start - but you need to get details. What kind of visuals will you use? How will you organize the children for the musical activities? A fingerplay is a great accompaniment - I suggest you let YOUR fingers do the work: I googled "Snow…

Profile Information

Professional Interests
I am a children's musician and educator, workshop presenter, and recording artist. I present parents and teachers developmentally appropriate, participatory music that stimulates the brain and body by having fun! I am always networking with those who do research involving music and literacy, physical development and social interaction. I speak and sing all over the USA and abroad.
About Me:
I grew up in a house with a pre-school attached! Armed with a BS in musical theater from Northwestern Univ., I entertained on cruise ships, did the soaps, and hosted a nightly magazine show. I settled down to "mommy", but soon created music classes for my kids - and Macaroni Soup! was born! I feel my work is a mission, and it's SO exciting to see the effect my music has in the lives of the teachers, children and families it touches! I'm high-energy! (hence the exclamation points!) My philosophy is "If you teach with enthusiasm, chilcren learn with enthusiasm."
My Title/Position/Status:
music educator and performer, specializing in Early Childhood
I'm Interested in Discussing
Teaching, New Research, Continuing Education, Career Opportunities, Speaking and Training, Business Opportunities, Networking, Consulting, Best Practices
