Marilyn,

Actually the ebook is simply an annotated list of 180 picture books, no actual content of picture books in it. I wanted to make sure that was clear. There are applications for content areas like history (immigration or the civil rights movement) included here and about 83 I think of the 180 picture books are actually recommended with specific ideas for use in middle and high school. In terms of the preschool children, what I'd recommend instead is picture books with what I consider the three "R's" of great preschool picture books - rhythm, rhyme and repetition. Dr. Seuss is great, also Peggy Rathmann (because her books often have little text but great stories and great illustrators to explore together). I'd love to come and do some training on my technique for engaged interactive read alouds. It can help high school students improve their comprehension (and helps them teach comprehension naturally with preschoolers who don't yet read conventionally). The best time to teach comprehension is actually before children learn to read.

I am happy to be a part of this group too. I am pleased that you enjoyed my session at NAEYC. Do you use Learning Centers in your classroom?
