The Swine Flu

It's ironic, then, that I generally tend to ignore the media to the greatest extent possible. Certainly, I appreciate being kept informed. But I don't appreciate being scared out of my mind. That's why, until today, I was paying as little attention as I could to the reports surrounding t… Continue

I am delighted to be part of what looks to be a First Class site that gives a voice to children and education. It is my pleasure to be here.

Hi Rae, Apologies for the delay, great to connect here again. I'm only a few years in to this journey. My background is in Community Development and High Performance Football. Combined the two since finding myself in Asia and trying to find ways to spark various groups in to action.
Aside from you fab work I'm really inspired this month by John Medina, Ken Robinson as well as exploring The Energy Project. I love working with teachers and kids but I'm collaborating with some fitness industry pros to look at developing corporate workshops re energy and creativity (through the power of play). What is new for you? Do let us know if you are heading out to HK Aus or Asia any time. Would love to arrange talks and workshops out here with you. Hope you are a fan of the World Cup - I'm like a kid in a candy store & just love that it's in Africa! :)

Thanks Rae - I have explored around a bit. I fully agree that most kids learn better when they are moving. A primary school I worked at years ago caught the message and has built an amazing activity circuit, which is great, but it is still separating the movement from the actual learning experience instead of integrating it. To accommodate all their extra activities they have lengthened the school day, and especially the younger kids come out of school exhausted, and then still have homework (which is another can of worms). Making the movement part and parcel of the learning experience facilitates the learning and gives the wigglers the movement they need!

I must watch out that I don't spend too much time here, and not enough on my book. Iron discipline is needed...
