BAM! Street - Smart Parents, Smart Teachers, Smart Connections

Are the playground slides at your school being used as much as the school's satelite internet connection? I doubt it. Individual health insurance rates are climbing because our kids and their parents are out of shape. We sit if front of electronics all day with our only exercise being a walk to the snack machinesdown the hall. We need to start young, educate our youth to balance their lives. Recess and PE should NOT be cut out of the school programs, a trend that is happening now across the country. In fact, we should be adding more play and exercise time to the daily routine. Kids will be happier, and when they are happy, they learn more and retain.more. We are doing a disservice by cutting these programs.

Here! Here! Just put that forward as a discussion on the Music and Learning Channel. If we can't have merry-go-rounds because of liability, then we need to get them spinning another way. Rae talks about this all the time. Recently, I recorded "In and Out the Windows" and have been travelling teaching it to children and teachers. It is amazing how many cannot do that simple activity that is so connected to math readines because of spatial temporal reasoning. We need to keep speaking and maybe a little bit more loudly!
